Prior to our first session, you will review and sign the intake paperwork. Our first session will be focused on assessment. We will get to know each other, I will hear your story, especially regarding the issue(s) you are seeking treatment for, and a few goals will emerge to help determine what successful therapy will look like for you. The purpose of subsequent sessions will be moving toward achieving those goals. After our first session I will give a recommendation for how frequently we should meet to help you be successful. You and I will be partners in this process. I am the mental health expert, and you are the expert on your life. Commitment, effort, and consistency is required by each of us to help you succeed.
The purpose of sex therapy is to address sexual issues that individuals and partners face. I treat people dealing with sexual shame, survivors of sexual trauma, sexual functioning issues (sexual pain, difficulties with desire, arousal, orgasm, and satisfaction), desire discrepancy, mixed orientation relationships (i.e. one partner is straight and the other is bisexual, or one partner is monogamous and the other non-monogamous). I am affirming of kinky, queer, and non-monogamous people.
Sex therapy includes a thorough assessment of your sexual history and learnings to identify what suggestions may be helpful to you and if intensive therapy is needed. No sexual touch happens during sex therapy sessions. I will verbally suggest interventions to improve your sexual and relational functioning and satisfaction.
When I meet with couples, I have a 4 session assessment process.
1st session: We meet with both partners present, discuss your therapeutic needs and what you are looking for out of therapy.
2nd session: Individual session with one partner to assess relevant sexual, relationship, family, and mental health history.
3rd session: Individual session with the other partner to assess relevant sexual, relationship, family, and mental health history.
4th session: Relationship review. I tell you what I see in terms of the strengths and challenges in the relationship and provide recommendations. After the 4th session, there is no obligation to continue with therapy. If you would like to continue, we will establish treatment plan goals to work toward.
Scheduling permitting, it is recommended to schedule 75-90 minutes for the 4th session.
The assessment sessions rate is $230 for 50 minutes, cost pro-rated for additional time. A 90 minute session costs $360. If schedules or patient preference does not permit a 90 minute session, we will meet for 50 minutes.
Payment can be made with cash, card, including HSA cards, or check.
The no show/late cancellation fee is $100. Cancellation is late if it occurs with less than 24 business hours notice.
Session rate: $230 for initial assessment session(s), $200 for 50 minute sessions
I provide superbills upon request which you can submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement. If you'd like to know in advance of meeting how much they will reimburse you for, you can call and ask what their out of network reimbursement rate is for the following CPT codes:

If you're feeling well enough, we can easily meet virtually, just let me know. If you're not well enough, let me know as soon as possible and I will try to fill the spot. If I am able to, I will waive your late cancellation fee.
